  • Don’t Panic if Accidents Happen

Keep a clear head and know what to do if you experience an accident or incident when you’re on vacation or traveling abroad. This is what your international travel insurance is for, so make sure you use it correctly. Think about the travel insurance claim procedure before you go so you know what to do in an emergency.

When you are traveling make sure you keep a close hold of the emergency number that comes with your insurance. If you are sick or injured, seek treatment and call the emergency number. If you can’t call, ask a friend or relative to contact the insurers as soon as possible.

If you’re not sick or injured, call the insurance number anyway as they can advise you on what to do. You may need to fill out a specific form if you are the victim of a crime, for example.

When you get home, make a claim following the insurer’s regular procedure. Make sure you submit the correct forms and all the supporting evidence you need.
